*Your ideas may be hidden by the events in the story. Ask yourself why something happened. Why did the author create a character like that---why are the two characters opposite one another? Do they show a contrast in personality and why?
*Think about events, who did the action why it was done and for what purpose, the characters purpose (what does it mean to the text) and the author’s purpose.
As you write, ask yourself the same questions I asked, “Why is this idea important?”
