This is an OnTAP working site for display of materials gathered for the Online Tutorial Assistance Project, a Telecommunication Model Application Pilot Project (TMAPP) of the Chancellor's Office of the California Community Colleges.  It is a place where participants can share, view, and consider working drafts.  You are  welcome to use this page as a handy locator for OnTAP developer information and work in progress.  (The official OnTAP Home page, describing the project and linking to other parts of the project, is hotlinked in the top left-hand corner above: "OnTap Home.")  URLs for tutorials are at the originating server-sites; look at the Final Tutorials site for location of tutorials in final draft stage for this project

MODEL ONLINE TUTORING WEBSITES AND ONTAP GATEWAY.  For descriptions of and links to a variety of online tutoring Websites which may serve as models for the OnTAP Website currently in development, check out this Online Tutoring Models page.

The development of the OnTAP Website and Gateway is envisioned as a team effort. Kathleen Rippberger will be implementing suggestions from members of the OnTAP developers and community of interest.  Please look at this work-in-progress and share your impressions and suggestions with Kathleen: <http://www.miracosta.cc.ca.us/mccweb/ontap/gateway/gateway.html>.

Here are some thoughts Kathleen wishes you to consider: "The gateway should be an effective site guide. It's an index, a road map, a table of contents to the whole site. On that initial page, users should see the site's purpose, the kind of content at the site, and how to get to that content. In addition, the gateway and links should be easy to navigate in any direction (on to other pages in a linear fashion, back to the last link, back to the home page, etc.)."  Soon this Gateway will replace this Website.

Schedule for faculty developers: 

• December 12, 1998: Webliography Drafts Deadline. 
• March 12, 1999: Mid-semester Faculty Developer Meeting. Tutorial Drafts Presented: 9-12 (MCC computer lab 4612).   Continental breakfast and snacks courtesy of NCHEA.
• April 16, 1999: Mid-semester Faculty Developer Meeting.   Tutorial Revisions Presented for Review: 10:30-1(MCC-3101).  1-2 (lunch, courtesy of NCHEA).  ETUDES training session: 2-4 (MCC-T120)
• May 7, 1999: Begin online review and assessment of project deliverables for Field-Test Readiness, using ETUDES environment.  (Deliverables include tutorials in economics, English--including ESL, and human sexuality; the Writing Handbook Prototype; and the Information Competency short course).
• Summer 1999: Revise tutorials, as needed, to prepare them for the OnTAP field testing in fall: Revision Website.
• Early Fall 1999: Virtual Conference with California Chancellor's Office and Community of Interent (for review of project processes and deliverables).   Date and time TBA. 
• Fall 1999 and Spring 2000: Consultations on field testing processes and results.  Revision of deliverables as needed.  Survey and consultations for Final Project Report.  Dissemination at Meetings and Conferences.
• Summer 2000: Deadline for Final revisions measured by project criteria and standards of accessibility--June 7.  Development and uploading of Final Tutorial Display (tutorials on Project Server), Gateway, and related Websites for Various Deliverables (handbook, FAQs, etc.).  Final Report.  Final Report to Palomar Board: June 27.
