North Coast Concert Chorale

The North Coast Concert Chorale is a College-Community large choral ensemble.  The choir performs a wide variety of music, including major choral-orchestral works, selected choral music from all time periods, popular and jazz favorites, broadway tunes, and folk music.

The choir performs both on campus and in other performance venues in North County.  In addition, the chorale has performed on several international concert tours, including trips to Russia, China, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, and the Baltic States.

The choir is made up of full-time and part-time MiraCosta students as well as members of the community.  The choir is offered as both a credit and non-credit (free) MiraCosta class.

NCCC holds auditions at the beginning of each school term, in August and January.   Auditions test range,  pitch matching, musicianship, and sight singing.  While a wide variety of ability and experience levels are accepted, each singer is chosen based on the fact that their voice will make a positive addition to the choral sound.  For audition information contact the conductor, James Shepard, at 760-757-2121 Ext. 6527.

James Shepard has conducted the NCCC since 1990.  He is a graduate of USC and San Diego State University, and is Past President of the American Choral Directors Association of California and the Music Association of California Community Colleges.
