Seabirds
There is a great variety of seabirds in the
area. Seabirds are vertebrates in the
Class Aves. In this area, there are four
main groups of seabirds, as defined by their feeding strategies: scavengers, shallow divers, deep divers, and
waders.
This is a Western
Gull and it is a scavenger, eating whatever it can find, including
French fries. (Image

Brown Pelicans are shallow
divers. (Image

Pelagic Cormorants are deep
divers. They have denser bones and
less oil in their feathers compared to other birds. This makes it possible for them to dive
deeply to catch fish. (Image

Egrets are waders,
walking in shallow water to spear fish. (Image from Wikimedia Commons.)
