Lab Hours see website for complete schedule

When contacting the instructor through email, please identify the purpose of your email in the SUBJECT line along with the course and your name.  Here is an example of how you should key the subject:  QUESTION BOT 112 Susan Smith.  The instructor will respond within 48 hours.  To expedite responses to questions, key the word QUESTION in the subject line of the email, and you will receive a response within 48 hours.

Getting Started:

ü  Your book contains a CD with the calculator program.  You can install the program on your home computer.  If you buy a used book that does not have a CD, please ask your instructor for a copy of the CD.  The program is also installed on the desktop in the BOT Model Office, 4803B.

ü  Complete all assignments and save tapes to your USB drive by page numbers.  You do not need to write the correct answers in the book.  Answers will be reviewed from the saved tapes on your USB drive.  This is very important – if you do not save your work you will have to redo the exercises to receive credit.  To create a new assignment, you must open a new tape and name it immediately.  Review this procedure with the lab instructor or from the Blackboard demonstration so that your tapes are not continuous from one assignment to the next.

ü  Read the instructions carefully before beginning each assignment so that you are aware of the math and 10 key skills being emphasized in the drills.

ü  After reading through the introduction and practicing the 10 keypad drills, you should be familiar with the menus and onscreen help available in this program.  If not, review before starting.

ü  Look through each of the menus and practice some math problems using each of the functions available.  You must understand the program in order to achieve success.

ü  The syllabus will instruct you to set the timer for speed drills.  Follow the syllabus not the book instructions for timed drills.

Grading:

Final grade will be based on the completion of all assignments as listed in the syllabus.   Errors in calculations will be reviewed and identified in the feedback during grading.

            Practice Drills                         65 points

            Final Project                            25 points

            Career Project                           5 points

            5’ Timing                                   5 points

Submitting Assignments:

This is a self-paced e-flex course that allows you to work in the BOT Model Office, 4803B OC, or online.  Students are responsible for completing and submitting all assignments as listed in the course syllabus.  Assignments reviewed and graded in the BOT Model Office will get immediate feedback and grading.  Weekly assignments submitted through email will be reviewed and graded within five (5) days. All assignments submitted through email must be identified in the subject line with your last name and the assignment name or number as directed in the syllabus, for example:  Striebel Project 1.

To expedite responses to questions, key the word QUESTION in the subject line of the email, and you will receive a response within 24-48 hours.

The Blackboard site contains data files, all assignments, announcements, lectures, special instructions or notes for assignments, discussion questions, and assignment grades.

Even though this is a self-paced course and students can select a flexible schedule for completing assignments, students must show steady progress through the semester by viewing the program orientation, submitting the student contact form, submitting weekly assignments, and maintaining contact with the instructor.  Students will be dropped for lack of successful progress.  A suggested timeline for completing assignments is given in the syllabus.  Students are encouraged to follow the timeline or work ahead as a guide to successful completion of the course.
