RSONAL INFORMATION
Kathy Striebel has been an instructor in the Business and Computer Information Science Departments since the Spring semester of 1994. She is the lead instructor for the Business Office Technology Program open entry, self-paced BOT 100 Keyboarding, BOT 109 Becoming a Virtual Assistant, BOT 110 Word Processing, BOT 111 Machine Transcription, BOT 112 Machine Calculation, BOT 113 Basic Office Skills, BOT 114 Legal Office Procedures, BOT 115 Medical Transcription, and BOT 116 Office Systems and Procedures classes.
Kathy is also the lead instructor for the Medical Administrative Professional Program courses: MA 100 Introduction to Medical Assisting, MA 104 Medical Coding, and MA 105 Medical Insurance Billing.
Kathy coordinates the activities for students who join the IAAP - International Association of Administrative Professionals - and the AHDI- Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity.
Kathy's background in teaching
and industry is in the secretarial, marketing, retailing, and management
areas. Kathy has also worked with private industry and military in creating employee
job training manuals and CBT modules. Before moving to San Diego in 1990,
she was an associate professor teaching secretarial and computer information
classes at Plaza College, a private junior college in New York. Kathy
enjoys time away with her husband, Gene, and three daughters and son-in-law, Andre Priest. A beautiful wedding
celebration took place at the Antrim 1844 Country Inn in Taneytown, Maryland in
November 2004. Erica
is a 1998 graduate of
George Washington University now working in Congress as the Legislative
Director for Congressman Ander Crenshaw of Jacksonville, Florida , an
d living in Washington, D.C.; Liz - a 2001
BS graduate of
New York University and 2005 MA graduate of Fordham University and now working
as a professional development coach
in Washington, DC school system; and Erin a 2005 graduate of Northeastern University in Boston,
has returned to San Diego and is working as a product support specialist for a local
company.
Kathy is a member of the Business Education State Advisory Council for Career and Technical Education (BESAC). During the 2001-2002 school year, Kathy was a participant at the National Leadership Institute, Professional Development Academy sponsored by the National Dissemination Center for Career and Technical Education and will continue to represent the institute locally and nationally to promote career and technical education. Kathy is a member of Delta Pi Epsilon, the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), California Business Education Association (CBEA), the National Business Education Association (NBEA), and the International Society for Business Education (ISBE).
