Open Entry, Self-Paced e-Flex Courses

The Business Office Technology Open Entry Self-Paced e-Flex courses are designed to provide skills for immediate employment or foundation skills before enrolling in computer/business courses. The self-paced e-flex format allows students to set a personal schedule to complete the course assignments and have assignments graded on campus or online.

Procedures for getting starting in an open entry, self-paced e-Flex course:

1.                 Complete contact sheet at end of online presentation.

2.                 Go to the program website: www.miracosta.edu/home/kstriebel.

3.                 Download or print the Orientation packet.

4.                 Download course outline for your course.

5.                 Go to Blackboard site for your BOT 109-116 course.

6.                 Download the assignment sheets from Blackboard.

7.                 Purchase the books and materials listed in the course outline.

8.                 Prepare your flexible schedule for completing assignments.

9.                 Email the instructor for your course and introduce yourself.

10.            Start working!

11.            Submit assignments at least once a week.  Steady progress must be recorded or student will be dropped from the course.

12.            Complete Course – Last day to submit assignments is May 16, 2008. 

13.            Drop Course - Students who do not start and/or show progress in their course will be dropped on November 16, 2007.

14.            Receive your course completion certificate after all assignments have been graded.

15.            Update your resume to include the new skills you have learned!

16.            Add an open entry course up to April 3, 2008.

 REMINDERS:

 Be sure the instructor has your current email address, telephone number, and address.  In a self-paced course, communication is vital to success.  Instructor and associate faculty members will contact you periodically to discuss your progress.
