These instructions are to remind me how to create a simple, low-bandwidth slide show with minor animation.
Some terms and the work area:

Use layers.
Each item and animation element should go on its own layer.
Create keyframe for beginning of anything (Insert -> Keyframe)
All content must go into a keyframe. Whatever is there stays there until another keyframe.
Import into library all images and sounds
(File -> Import to Library....)
Drag items from library onto first keyframe in
timeline. Select that keyframe.
Make all visual items into Symbols (Insert
-> Convert to Symbol)
For sound files, add another keyframe to the
right, select it, and drag it to the right till
all sound shows.
For slides: SELECT IMAGE on stage. Convert the
item to a symbol.

Add end keyframe, select image on stage, convert the item to a symbol.

To create a fade out
Select the first keyframe on the layer, then
select the item (symbol instance) on the stage,
set alpha at 100.
Do the same at the end keyframe, take the alpha
to 0.

Tween between keyframes
You can't tween if there is more than one symbol
on the same layer. Both the beginning and ending
keyframes to fade out must group the symbols
together and Convert to Symbol. It's easier to
put each item on its own layer!

To move an image or text block the procedure is basically the same. Just move the symbol instance to where you want it in the first and last keyframe.
Note: If the item, text, whatever has not been converted to a symbol at both ends, the tween will not work! If the tween works, you will see a full arrow between the keyframes.
Insert Blank Keyframe after each fadeout to get rid of image or sound.
ALWAYS SELECT A FRAME FIRST, THEN DRAG IT.
To break apart an image, first use Graphic Converter to select and save selections. Then import each. You can only use "break apart" after you've put together an image of several components.
To remove frames on the timeline (to move items back or forward), us F5 (add frames) or shift-F5 to delete them.
Do not use the Edit -> Undo command. It doesn't actually Undo the way you think it will!
