An aptly named project on the progression from Facts -> Significance -> Theme, a skill set I expect of all my students in all my classes. The project itself turned into a PowerPoint monster, but I did not go down with the ship. Avoid the monsters yourself by going directly to the link at the bottom of this page to see the final product. |
Effort the First: The Beast: At almost 82 MB, the full draft presentation might work on CD in the classroom, but not delivered over the web. (View it if you dare!)
Effort
the Second: The Test(s):
Sample small version
of first ten slides with subtitles (saved as Sorenson codec,
medium quality, 5 frames per second, Qualcomm audio). About
7 MB for only ten slides to preserve text quality and it's still
not terrific.
HTML version on the web (ended up too big for slow connections; each slide took 3 minutes on a 56K modem, plus I was made aware that I was talking too slowly since adding the ADA compliant text)
Effort
the Third: The Modem Version
Web
version for slow connections where I re-recorded
the audio and lost all the animation I'd been
going for in the first place (I will use this
for hearing impaired students, since the final
version ended up not containing text).
Effort
the Fourth: The Flash Versions ![]()
HTML/Flash for Fast Connections
HTML/Flash for Slow Connections
Failed Effort the Fifth: QuickTime but plays automatically so no good, especially for slow connections.
Effort the Sixth: Final QuickTime Versions!!!!
