Welcome to my Web Page here at MiraCosta College. I am now in my 5th year at the College (nice to finally be tenured)!  I have resided here in San Diego for many years and have taught in child development and early childhood education at UC Davis (1979-81), San Diego State University (1981-94), and Syracuse University (1994-97) prior to my appointment here at MiraCosta. Needless to say... I am here at MiraCosta to stay!

My professional interests include expertise in early childhood teacher training, issues in inclusive early childhood education practices, early intervention, parent education, anti-bias curriculum, and community collaboration. I have served as a consultant with the Hope Infant and Family Support Program and am an active advocate on behalf of children with special needs and their families.

Despite my professional commitments, finding time for my family continues to be a very high priority. My wife, Jane, also an early childhood professional, serves as an educational consultant with San Diego Regional Center for the Developmentally Disabled. My daughter, Emily, has now started high school and continues to play competitive soccer for the Carlsbad Lightning (Girls U-16) and to surf). Though we love living here in North County, we still treasure our three years living "Upstate" in Cazenovia, New York.

In the Fall I typically teach CHLD 105 (Program Planning & Curriculum Methods) and CHLD 270 (Preschool Teacher Internship). During the Spring 2004 semester, I will teach CHLD 105 (at the San Elijo campus) CHLD 200 (Early Childhood Observation),  and CHLD 240 (Children with Special Learning Needs). For more information about my courses, see the individual links below (under construction).

Let me know how I can be of assistance to you regarding course information, class scheduling, career directions & decisions, and professional growth opportunities. I'll look forward to hearing from you!
