Paul Clarke is the Lead Instructor of Drafting and Engineering Technology at MiraCosta College.  He has a diverse and rich mix of education, industry, teaching, and student development experience. 

Mr. Clarke received a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from California Polytechnic University at Pomona and a Masters degree in industrial technology from California State University at Long Beach.  In both programs his emphasis was in engineering design - at the latter, he completed a Master’s thesis on the design and construction of a breakaway basketball rim.  In May 2003, he received an MBA from the University of Southern California (USC) with a concentration in leadership and organization.

His work experience includes four years as an Engineering Team Leader with Watlow Electric Manufacturing Company where he managed all west coast engineering and design/CAD drafting personnel for the design and manufacture of industrial heaters, sensors and controls.  He also interned with the Toro company where he did design and drafting work for irrigation systems, with Rockwell International where he was a CAD drafter for the Lockheed/Boeing AC-130 Gunship, and with Southern California Edison where his work centered on electrical circuit design and analysis.

Mr. Clarke taught courses in the Design Department at California State University Long Beach and spent 3 years as the Program Manager for the Southern California Campus Work designing programs to develop student leadership skills.  His professional memberships include ASME, ASEE, ETD, CITEA and he has a state license (CA-EIT) from the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
