July 31st, 2003

Dear Student,

I would like to briefly introduce myself and tell you a little about what is happening in the Drafting and Engineering Technology program at MiraCosta College.

As you may know, I am the new lead instructor for the drafting program. In the fall semester I will be teaching DRAF 101 Beginning CAD and DRAF 110 Drafting Theory. You can learn more about my background and experience by visiting the following link which I will be updating throughout the year: http://www.miracosta.edu/home/pclarke

To kick off the new school year, we are having an "Open House" on Wednesday August 27th from 6-7pm in the inner office (4533) of the drafting area. This will be a great time to meet the faculty and talk with other students in the program. There will be free food and refreshments, so please plan on coming!

You are entering an exciting field at an exciting time. The drafting and design tools used in industry continue to take significant steps forward. I am committed to providing an educational experience which will enable you to keep pace and lead change in this dynamic field. The drafting technology program at MiraCosta will build upon past program strengths in teaching the fundamentals while ensuring you receive up-to-date training with the latest technology.

A couple of notes on classrooms, equipment, and courses: As I write this letter the drafting classrooms and labs are being painted and new printers are being installed in plotting room. As for courses, there are still open seats in DRAF 201 Advanced CAD and DRAF 110 Drafting Theory. Both of these courses can be taken concurrently with DRAF 101 Beginning CAD.

This coming year promises to be a great learning adventure for me, and I hope for you also. I look forward to sharing this journey with you and learning how I can best help you obtain your educational goals both now and in the future.

Sincerely,

Paul Clarke
