Cytoplasm
![]() |
Cytoplasm is the fluid inside the cell membrane. Every cell is surrounded by a membrane often called a plasma membrane. The membrane controls the flow of materials between the inside of the cell and the outside environment. Water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and fat-soluble molecules move across the membrane. Some larger molecules cross through specialized protein channels. Other large or electrically charged molecules cannot cross the membrane at all. |
