IMPORTANT NOTE on CLOSED Classes: All the online classes and many of the on-campus classes close quickly. You should register ASAP if you are interested in any class. If you change your mind, please drop the class immediately so others can enroll. If the class is closed, consider the Wait List procedures; be aware of the rules and the limitations. Otherwise, consider these options: 1) register for another section if available; 2) register for another class; 3) consider registering in a future semester; 4) show up for the first day of an on-campus class and discuss with the instructor; or 5) forget about it and move on. The instructor will not intervene with the wait list procedure.

Please be aware that, once a class reaches maximum enrollment and “closes,” on or after the first day of the semester, even if “available” spaces appear on SURF due to drops, it is within the instructor's complete discretion on whether to add more students at that time. Drops after the first day are normal attrition and are factored in when setting the maximum enrollment. The class has started and important assignments and subject matter have already been covered. Please do not email the instructor. Thank you for your understanding.

Online Class Evaluations:(comments to each of the survey questions are summarized at the end of each survey)

Teaching Philosophy/Style and Class Management/Activities

Currently, I teach Real Estate Principles (REAL100), Real Estate Economics (REAL206) and am the faculty mentor for Cooperative Education Students.  Each classes has on-line presence, and REAL206 is entirely online.

I have taught in community colleges in both California and Hawaii for over 25 years.  My teaching experiences include credit and non-credit classes as well as community education, in the areas of Business Management, Office Skills, Customer Service, Career Development, Job Search Skills and Real Estate.   I have also been a licensed Realtor for over 20 years, actively practicing in both California and Hawaii.   I work hard to provide excellent customer service to both my classroom students and my real estate clients

As a Realtor, I believe everyone should have a basic knowledge of real estate, real estate law, and real estate economics so that they can be informed, successful consumers throughout their lifetimes.  My intention as a Realtor is to educate my clients as we transact real estate business together.

As an educator, I believe life is enhanced by learning.  I believe people thrive on learning new things, contemplating new ideas, re-tooling as their life evolves.  As a teacher, I intend to play an active role in this “thriving”.  I strive to provide students with the ability to “learn how to learn” no matter what discipline they study.  I believe that to be successful in life today, students need to hone their ability to spot trends, be on the look-out for new ideas, to regularly “look above the trees” and not get stuck in the forest of the known and familiar.  Historically, the world is changing more and more rapidly with new ideas, technologies and businesses emerging constantly and we are becoming a more global society in every moment.  It is our job as Educators to teach students how to be aware of change and how to respond to change effectively.

I believe that students learn best in the classroom when they know why course content is relevant to their lives and how to use the knowledge they are gaining efficiently.  I believe students learn as much from other students in each class as they do from the instructor.  My job as an educator is to create an environment where learning takes place by making the classroom safe and stress-free, while helping students build a classroom community, whether in a live class or online.

When a student chooses to take any of my classes, they should be pro-active, have self-discipline, good time management skills and at least 6 hours a week to work on classes besides their classroom time for a 3 unit class.  They should have the technical knowledge and ready access to an efficient computer, and to effectively deal with the Internet, Email, Blackboard and basic computer skills.  I am available at any time to assist students, and students should take advantage of this support.   My syllabus for each class is available online.  I invite inquiries via email if you are contemplating one of my classes.  I wish you every success as a student!  Happy Learning…
