Hydroponics/Irrigation Specialist Program - MiraCosta College Community Services and Business Development is partnering with Archi‘s Acres to make available a Ta funded hydroponics/irrigation specialist program. In this course, students will receive training in hydroponics, drip/micro irrigation,
environment control, soil biology, and more! Students will also have the opportunity to meet with various industry leaders from successful growing operations, the USDA, Farm Bureau, SCORE, Small Business Administration, retailers and distributors, and potential investors. To assist students with job placement, students will be given additional career development course work.


Topics covered in this course include:

  • Farm ownership and/or farm management
  • Urban farming
  • Irrigation maintenance, installation and salesSustaibable Agriculture Training program classroom
  • Farmers market management
  • Resume building and introductions to agriculture leaders who are hiring, and what they are looking for

Certification Information:


During the 5th week of class, students will be allowed the opportunity to sit for the certified agricultural irrigation specialists exam and with a passing score will recieve a CAIS certification.  All Students receive a certificate of accomplishment from MiraCosta College.


Dates: January 16, 2012, with new classes starting every seven weeks.
Classes: Mondays – Fridays, 8:00 a.m.– 4:00 p.m. for six weeks

Cost for Military personnel: This program is covered by tuition assistance.
Cost for non-Military: $4,500
