Community education Classes
It is our pleasure to offer classes and programs that provide you and your family with opportunities to learn, grow and develop. Community Education classes are available to anyone who registers with us. You do NOT need to be a credit student. There is NO application process. Classes offered through Community Education are not funded with tax dollars. Your enrollment fees keep this valuable program going. Thank you.
Offered in partnership with Ed2Go, MiraCosta Community Education has hundreds of online certificate programs to choose from. Designed to provide the workforce skills necessary to acquire professional-caliber positions for many in-demand occupations, these online career-training programs assist students in developing expertise in their desired career fields and/or preparing for industry certification exams. Each self-study, online course has an instructor assigned to answer student questions and solve student problems. This is the perfect in-depth professional-level program for people who wish to continue working while learning, or who need a flexible study schedule.

Six-Week Online Courses
Offered in partnership with Ed2Go, MiraCosta Community Education has more than 300 online courses to choose from. Courses are six-weeks in length, with new sessions beginning each month. With 24-hour access and expert instructors, you can complete any course entirely from your home or office, any time of the day or night. These online courses are informative, fun, convenient, and highly interactive. They are project-oriented and include lessons, quizzes, hands-on assignments, discussion areas, supplementary links, and more. Courses start as low as $99. Automation Technician (Online)
The Automation Technician program provides an introduction to industrial automation including digital electronic, process control and programming of PLCs, robotic and SCADA systems. The program examines applications and examples of automated manufacturing systems including both the theory and function of digital and industrial electronics hydraulics and pneumatics, robotic systems, digital programming languages and alarm management. The Electronics Technician program covers the fundamentals of electronics and prepares the graduate for employment and/or further on-the-job training as a consumer, commercial or industrial electronics service technician. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Technician
MiraCosta College, in partnership with George Brown College, is proud to offer this interactive and highly innovative distance education program that combines state-of-the-art lab simulation with award-winning curriculum. This course
provides the basic technical skills and knowledge necessary to work with programmable logic control systems found typically in an industrial/manufacturing environment. The program covers the operation of various PLC control systems including both discrete and analog control devices. The simulation software, LogixPro, that is included with the program, simulates the Rockwell Logix 500 series of PLCs. PLC Technician II Program
The PLC Technician II Certificate program introduces the theory behind Programmable Logic Controllers, while maintaining an emphasis on the application of PLCs in plant and manufacturing systems. The PLC Technician II provides a more advanced study of PLCs in manufacturing including DCS & SCADA systems. The PLCLogix simulator integrated within in the program emulates the Rockwell 5000 series PLC control software and features 3D simulation and advanced programming. Robotics Technician Certificate
The Robotics Technician training program introduces the concepts of industrial robots and explains how they can be used in a plant or manufacturing system. The primary focus of the program is on automated manufacturing processes, as well as the role of robots and all of their support equipment. Students receive both theoretical and laboratory instruction through a combination of multimedia learning resources and a robotics simulation software package to allow for the programming, testing, and debugging of robot-control programs. Areas of study include motion programming, pick and place, spray painting, arc and spot welding, computer networking, automated sorting systems, vision and tactile sensors and computer integration.
