Griffith Observatory with a Trip to San Antonio Winery
Saturday, February 3, 2018
The Griffith Observatory is one of L.A.’s greatest cultural attractions. It offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and Downtown L.A. from atop Mt. Hollywood in Griffith Park. The observatory, and accompanying exhibits, was opened to the public on May 14, 1935. Today, the Observatory is recognized as one of the most popular informal education facilities in the U.S. and a beloved gathering place for visitors. The Observatory offers many exhibits on the main level and roof; each focusing on a unique aspect of observation. In the planetarium there is an optional show that you may purchase tickets to see (subject to availability and time constraints). The planetarium show costs $7 for adults and $5 for seniors age 60 and older. If you are so inclined, you might like to enjoy a short hike on some of the trails surrounding the Observatory which offer gorgeous views of the city. There is even a gift shop on the premises for souvenir purchases and a reasonably priced restaurant. Following our visit to the Observatory, we will stop at the beautiful San Antonio Winery for a free tour and optional no host wine tasting and/or lunch.
