Tuition-Free Noncredit - Computer Courses

Noncredit Computer courses are offered at the MiraCosta College Community Learning Center, 1831 Mission Avenue in Oceanside.  These are hands-on computer courses ranging from beginning to intermediate levels.  Noncredit computer courses are great for those who want to learn the basics or need to refresh their skills for the job market.

NCWFP11 Essential Computer Skills

In this course, students develop information technology skills to access, evaluate, and utilize information resources using the Internet and web browsers. Students also develop some proficiency in using word processing software and a course management system. Previous experience using computers is recommended.

NCVOC31 Basic Word Processing

This course introduces students to word processing using basic formatting tools and features of word processing software to create various documents, such as business letters, resumes, and beginning desktop publishing. Students need previous mastery of mouse, keyboard, saving files, general computer usage background. This class will use MicroSoft Word 2010.

NCVOC35 Internet, Intermediate

This course introduces students to Internet usage skills and safety considerations. Students learn to locate Web pages, search for information, bookmark favorite locations, set up/manage an email account and homepage, and develop an awareness of online etiquette, ethics, software update processes, and cautionary issues within the Internet environment.

NCVOC38 Computer Basics/Keyboarding

This course introduces students to the Windows environment as well as to computer terminology, hardware, and software. Students use the Internet utilizing a web browser, conducting basics searches, and using E-mail. Students also learn fundamental keyboarding skills, including Home Row keyboarding skills, in order to develop some level of speed and accuracy using typing programs (local or on-line). NCVOC39 Beginning Spreadsheets (Excel)

This course introduces students to electronic spreadsheets using basic tools and features of Excel, including formulas, to create professional looking business worksheets that can be updated efficiently. Students need previous mastery of mouse, keyboard, saving files, general computer usage background. This class will use Excel 2010.
