**Also, please be aware that online learning does not work well for everyone. This online course requires strong self-discipline, good time-management skills, and a pro-active attitude towards the assignments. To be successful, you need to be self-motivated enough to keep up on a daily basis, without the face-to-face reminders that happen in an on-campus class.
**This course also includes three exams that must be taken on the MiraCosta campus (or by arrangement at another approved proctoring center). The exams are taken at the Academic Proctoring Center, which has locations on both the Oceanside and San Elijo campuses, with hours typically in the morning, afternoon, and evening, Monday through Friday.
**Warning about workload: this course covers a lot of material – and much of it is difficult. You’ll spend about 12-16 hours a week on this course over the next 17 weeks, including watching 4 hours of lecture videos each week, and about 8-12 more hours each week reading texts, completing homework, essays & papers, participating in discussions, and studying for quizzes & exams. Please be realistic in making your schedule so that you allow enough time to succeed in this class – don’t overload yourself with other work/family obligations.
**If this course sounds too crammed or difficult, remember that you can also meet this GE requirement by taking two 3-unit history classes, where the material is more spread out (see GE Plan).**
