Internships

Tourism marketing intern

Company: Visit Oceanside
Duration: ongoing

Commitment: minimum of 8 hrs per week
Intern required to travel to Oceanside office twice weekly (day/time is flexible, but must fall within the regular business hours)
Schedule to be determined during interview or at time of hire

Scope: Visit Oceanside is the destination marketing organization for Oceanside, CA; a classic beach community that is rapidly growing while staying authentic to its unique beach personality and surfing roots.  In addition, the Visit Oceanside operates one of the official California Welcome Centers.  The visitor center serves over 100,000 visitors from around the work each year.  This is a unique opportunity for an intern to receive hands-on experience in marketing a destination.  The student’s primary duties will include assisting the marketing coordinator with website updates, social networking activities and possibly other marketing programs when needed.  Experience with website development, email marketing campaigns and social media is helpful.  For those students interested, please send a resume to Cerina DeSouza at cerina@visitoceanside.org.  For questions or additional information, call Cerina DeSouza at 760.721.1101.

Customer Service/Hospitality Intern

Company: Visit Oceanside

Schedule to be determined during interview or at time of hire

Scope: Assist visitors from all over the country and world.  Provide travel information, direction, maps, things to do and see; acting as a travel concierge. Vacation planning and booking hotel reservations in Oceanside. Perform general clerical duties including but not limited to copying, mailing, faxing, filing and other functions that help streamline the daily business operations of the California Welcome Center. Market research. Maintain Statistics of visitors. Organize brochures and visitor information, including inventory of brochures. Special Projects such as events, fam trips, and trade shows/info booths.
