Nursing

The health care field offers many opportunities to apply life skills and experience to help people.  As a health care professional, you will enjoy great challenges and great fulfillment.

At MiraCosta College, we offer several programs to help you get started or advance in the health care profession.

The LVN-RN Career Ladder Nursing Program began in summer 2007 and graduated its first class in May 2008. The RN Associate Degree Nursing Program began in January 2010 and graduated its first class December 2011. To date, these programs have graduated 275 Registered Nurses. The NCLEX pass rates for both of these programs for the past 5 years has averaged 96.83%. Recently, these programs were ranked #3 for nursing programs in California by RegisteredNursing.org. In the pursuit of continued excellence, the MiraCosta LVN-RN Career Ladder Nursing program and the RN Associate Degree Nursing Program has decided to pursue specialized accreditation through the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN-CNEA). Seeking this specialized national accreditation is voluntary and demonstrates MiraCosta’s commitment to provide superior educational opportunities to a diverse population of learners with a focus on their success. We believe that seeking this accreditation will ensure our programs meet the highest standards for quality and safety in nursing education.

The LVN-RN Career Ladder Nursing Program and the RN Associate Degree Nursing Program is pursuing pre-accreditation candidacy status from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA), located at 2600 Virginia Avenue, NW, 8th Floor, Washington, DC 20037; phone 202-909-2500. Interested parties are invited to submit third party comments in writing directly to NLN CNEA, attention Andrea Browning, NLN CNEA Manager of Accreditation Services, no later than November 23, 2017.*
