MiraCosta College Students Elect 2014 ASB President, Trustee

MiraCosta College students have elected CoCo Brown and Antoine Stevens-Phillips as the 2014-2015 Associated Student Government (ASG) president and student trustee, respectively.

Brown, a kinesiology and health science major, has been a MiraCosta ASG senator for three years and Inter-Club Council chair for two terms. Brown also is involved in the United Black Student Union Conference, Latina Leadership Network Conference, Summer Bridge Program, Passport Program and college athletics.

“For the 2014-2015 school year, my goal is to provide a healthy lifestyle to my constituents, not just by eating right but mentally, emotionally and physically,” Brown said.

Stevens-Phillips, a MiraCosta College political science major, has been elected student trustee for the 2014-2015 school year. Stevens-Phillips has been an active member of ASG for one year and also participates in the Umoja Program, Black Student Union Conference, Phi Theta Kappa International Society and the Honors Scholar Program. He also is featured on the cover of MiraCosta College’s 2014 summer/fall class schedule.

“I hope to ensure that a dedicated student voice is present during critical deliberations at the board of trustee meetings, help fellow ASG members discover new ways to serve the student body and collaborate with departments such as EOPS to create programs that will provide students with much needed classroom resources,” Stevens-Phillips said about his goals as a student trustee for the new school year.
