Jeanne Shannon was elected to the Mira Costa College Board in November 2010 and represents area 1, the most southern part of the district.
Jeanne was born in Kansas City, Missouri. Being a product of corporate America, she attended five different grade schools in two cities, Boston and Chicago. She moved to the Chicago area at age 10 and attended Deerfield High School. Jeanne graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska with a degree in Speech and Theatre Education. A few years after graduation, Jeanne moved to the Los Angeles area where she changed careers, becoming an accountant and CPA. She also acquired a Master of Science degree in Taxation from Golden Gate University. Jeanne worked for Touche Ross in their Los Angeles office and transferred to their San Diego office in 1986. Jeanne has lived in the Carmel Valley area of San Diego for over twenty-six years.
In 1991, Jeanne started her own accounting and tax practice. She has also used her education background to teach accounting and tax classes at the University of San Diego and the University of Phoenix. Jeanne is active in the San Diego Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants as a board director. She is also involved as a board director in Whispering Winds Catholic Conference Center and Camp, a not-for-profit organization.
This is Jeanne’s first venture into public service and is working on making a difference.
