Hello Colleagues: 


As many of you are aware, last night Governor Gavin Newsome ordered “all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence, except as needed to maintain continuity of operation of the federal critical infrastructure sectors, critical government services, schools, childcare, and construction, including housing construction.” Because San Diego County had already adopted many of these measures, the plans to operate the college have not changed. We simply urge you during your work hours and also during your personal time, to stay home.


In preparation of this action, MiraCosta College will continue the plan to begin Monday, March 23. All employees will work remotely and are asked to not to come to MiraCosta College campus sites. This modality will continue through the remaining weeks of the spring 2020 semester.  Only the most essential workers who cannot complete their jobs (police, payroll, accounting check payment/disbursements, critical facilities and purchasing/warehouse workers) may occasionally need to work from campus with very limited exposure to others. 


Access to the District will remain open for those employees with keys  IF crucial needs exist to maintain the continuity of instruction or services, Please make sure you inform your dean/director if you plan on coming into any MiraCosta sites. Furthermore, when on site, please practice:

·       Social distancing to ensure a six feet separation between you and another individual.

·       Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

·       Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

·       Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces




MiraCosta College is taking necessary action in an effort to practice social distancing to diminish the spread of the disease and “flatten the curve,” so that our healthcare providers and systems are not overwhelmed.


As a reminder- I hope to greet all of you March 23 at 9 a.m. via webinar so please look for the link to be sent out. The webinar will be recorded if you are unable to log in. Additionally FAQs for employees and students will be posted on the site.


We are all in this together and stand ready to support you and our students in this journey. Please try to enjoy this last weekend of spring break as best you can by taking care of yourselves and your loved ones.

A: Yes, A & R is modifying those deadlines based on the percentage of the session. Look for information in the next few days about this. You will have the dates before March 30.
