MiraCosta College Presents Film ‘Voices of Cuba’
MiraCosta College is proud to present “Voices of Cuba,” the semester’s final film in the Latino Film Series. This free screening will be held on Friday, March 22, at 5:30 p.m. in Room 204 at the MiraCosta College San Elijo Campus, 3333 Manchester Avenue, Cardiff.
“Voices of Cuba” takes viewers from the rock-and-roll clubs of the Havana youth to the offices of high-ranking communist officials, and from the five star hotels to the decrepit slums. “Voices of Cuba” transports the audience to the Cuban people, who share their thoughts and feelings about their revolution, the effects of the U.S. embargo on their daily lives, and their hopes for their country in the twenty-first century.
The Film’s producer, Dr. Julian Nava (pictured), former U.S. ambassador to Mexico and the first Latino to attend Harvard University, will make a special guest appearance. Dr. Nava’s books will also be available for purchase at the event. MiraCosta College President Dr. Francisco Rodriguez will be on hand to introduce Dr. Nava.
Doors will open at 5 p.m. The film runs approximately 54 minutes.
Sponsored by MiraCosta College and ASG, as well as the Office of School Relations and Diversity Outreach.
