MiraCosta Offers Spring Yoga Classes

When the spring semester begins on January 13, 2014, MiraCosta College’s Kinesiology Department will offer transferable courses leading to the Yoga Teacher Training Certificate of Achievement. Classes will be held at MiraCosta College’s Oceanside Campus, located at 1 Barnard Drive; and at the San Elijo Campus, 3333 Manchester Avenue, Cardiff, as noted:

Yoga Teacher Training Foundation (KINE 145): This course focuses on the fundamentals of yoga that are essential for both practice and teaching. Students learn proper body mechanics, alignment principles and breathing techniques as they relate to the performance and instruction of beginning yoga poses. (3 units)

Tuesdays/Thursdays on the Oceanside Campus
Tuesdays/ Thursdays on the San Elijo Campus

Yoga Teacher Training Development (KINE 147): This course provides students with the tools to design and teach 60-minute yoga class with verbal clarity. Topics include yoga sutras, lineages, body mechanics and alignment, breathing styles, flow sequence, subtle body and principles of teaching yoga. (3 units)

Monday/Wednesday on the Oceanside Campus 
Tuesdays and Thursdays on the San Elijo Campus

Yoga Teacher Training Integration (KINE 149): This course provides aspiring yoga teachers with the tools to deepen their independent practice in order to strengthen their teaching and develop a personal teaching style. Students also learn about the business aspects of teaching yoga. (3 units)

Monday/Wednesday on the San Elijo Campus
