About the Transfer Center

Welcome to the Transfer Center web page. We are here to assist you in your transfer process to the college or university of your choice. The transfer process is multifaceted and you should work with a counselor to make sure your educational plan is appropriate for your goals. Once you have completed a MiraCosta College application and the English and math placement tests, please feel free to contact our office for an appointment. Where Do I Begin?

September News:

• September 1-30: All University of California TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee) students must fill out the online TAG application.
• September 3: University Application Overview Workshop will provide a general overview of the fall 2011 application for admission to 4-year colleges and universities (UC and Private schools only). 9:30-10:30 a.m. in room 3106, no reservation necessary. This workshop will not provide essay writing/editing.
• September 6: Campus Closed
• September 7: University of California, San Diego (UCSD) admissions representative will be on the Oceanside campus, please call (760) 795-6880 to schedule an appointment.
• September 9: University Application Overview Workshop will provide a general overview of the fall 2011 application for admission to 4-year colleges and universities (UC and Private schools only). 2:00-3:00 p.m. in room 3106, no reservation necessary. This workshop will not provide essay writing/editing.
• September 14: Ed Plan 101 is designed for students transferring to a California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC) only. You will complete an individual educational plan to assist you in completing your online admission application for fall 2011. 4:00-5:00 p.m. in room T-307, no reservation necessary.  Please bring AP scores and transcripts from California Community Colleges if you have them.For students with coursework from out of state or 4-year universities please schedule a personal appointment with the Transfer Center.
• September 15: Transfer Information Night  from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Oceanside Campus in room T-313. Obtain answers to your transfer questions! No appointment necessary.
• September 16: Transfer Information Night from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the San Elijo Campus in Conference Room A/B. Obtain answers to your transfer questions! No appointment necessary.
• September 20: University Application Overview Workshop will provide a general overview of the fall 2011 application for admission to 4-year colleges and universities (UC and Private schools only). 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the San Elijo Campus in conference room A/B, no reservation necessary. • September 22: University of California, San Diego (UCSD) admissions representative will be on the San Elijo campus, please call (760) 795-6880 to schedule an appointment.

• September 29: Veteran's Fair 6:00-8:00 p.m. in room 3601. Representatives from 4-year universities will be on campus to assist active duty military students and their dependents with transfer.

October News:

• October 1-30 Apply to California State University online.
• October 4: Columbia University 1:30-2:30 in Aztlan A (Bldg 3400) on the Oceanside Campus. You are invited to learn more about the undergraduate college at Columbia University, school of General Studies (GS) in the City of New York. GS is created specifically for returning adults and nontraditional students. If your education has been interrupted for a year or more, and you wish to complete your B.A. or B.S. degree at a rigorous, traditional, Ivy League university, we encourage you to come to the admissions presentation. No reservation necessary.
• October 5: CSU Application Workshop 11-12:30 in room 1201. No appointment necessary. The California State University application is available online. Please bring your unofficial transcripts and a copy of your educational plan.
• October 6: University of California, San Diego (UCSD) admissions representative will be on the Oceanside campus, please call (760) 795-6880 to schedule an appointment.
• October 11: California State University, San Marcos (CSUSM) admissions representative will be on the Oceanside campus, please call (760) 795-6880 to schedule an appointment.

• October 25: Writing your personal statement workshop for UC and private colleges. Your personal statement is a critical part of your transfer application. Join us from 2-3 in room 1202 on the Oceanside campus.
• October 26: Transfer Information Night  from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Oceanside Campus in room T-430. Obtain answers to your transfer questions! No appointment necessary.
• October 27: Writing your personal statement workshop for UC and private colleges. Your personal statement is a critical part of your transfer application. Join us from 1-2 in Conference Room A/B on the San Elijo campus.
• October 27: CSU Application Workshop 2:30-4 in room 1201. No appointment necessary. The California State University application is available online. Please bring your unofficial transcripts and a copy of your educational plan.
• October 28: Career and Major Fair from 10:30-1:30 on the Oceanside Campus in the plaza by the fountain. MiraCosta faculty, university faculty, and professionals employed in careers in local industries will be present for students interested in exploring a variety of majors and careers in one setting.

• Do you have an educational plan? Call (760) 795-6880 to set up an appointment with a transfer counselor to create an individual academic transfer plan. Students must complete the math and English assessment tests prior to their appointment.

• You must apply for IGETC certification when you request your official transcript at the end of your last term at MiraCosta College.
