Our Outreach Calendar
The MiraCosta College Office of School Relations/Diversity Outreach is responsible for implementing student and community outreach events which are designed to help the college meet its strategic goals to enhance the ethnic and cultural diversity of the student body, and make MiraCosta the college of choice for students in the local schools. This outreach calendar also includes community events where the Student Ambasadors host an information table to market the college to the general public at each of the fairs.

San Diego – Taichung Sister Cities Association Visit Monday, August 6, 11:30am -2:00pm, Conference Room, San Elijo campus
The Sister Cities delegation includes 11 educators and 5 students from Taiwan along with 3 local members of the association who live in our district. Dr. Francisco Rodriguez, San Elijo Deans, Dana Smith, Dr. Nikki Schaper, and Transfer Center Director, Dr. Lise Flocken met the delegation and provided presentations on MiraCosta. The success visit was featured on the World Journal news--the largest Chinese newspaper in the U.S.

Back to School with MiraCosta and San Dieguito Union High School District Tuesday, August 28, 6:00pm, Solana Beach at La Colonia Community Center
Over 30 people in attendance including parents, grandparents, prospective college students, current MCC students, and community leaders. Three Student Ambassadors had a college literature table and greeted community residents at the event. Dr. Rodriguez and Financial Aid Office gave an overview of the College and information on financial aid and scholarships. Download the program flyer.

School Relations and Diversity Outreach Presentation Tuesday, September 11, Board Room, Oceanside Campus
Interim Coordinator, Aubrey Kuan Roderick along with 10 student ambassadors gave a presentation titled "Top Ten List" -- who we are and what we do, to the MiraCosta College Board of Trustee during the regular meeting. Download and view the presentation.

Students from Oceanside Shores high school visit the Oceanside Campus to learn about the academic programs and visit the campus. Thanks to the generous support of our faculty to support this field trip to make the connections with students from Ocean Shores.

The Hispanic U.S. Veteran Perspective Monday, October 1, 9:30am, Aztlan A&B, Oceanside Campus
In honor of October, Hispanic Heritage Month, a panel discussion entitled “The Hispanic U.S. Veteran Perspective" wtih three Hispanic community leaders/military veterans is presented. The panelists will share their personal stories and perspectives on the contributions Latinos have made to the U.S. armed forces. A presentation of colors by the El Camino High School JROTC Color Guard will open the event, which is free and open to all.

Gear Up Campus Visit Day Friday, October 5, 9:00pm, Oceanside Campus
180 students from Jefferson and Cesar Chavez Middle School to participate in workshops from eight disciplines. The first workshop begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 9:50. The second workshop begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 10:50. After both workshops, starting at 11:00 a.m., the Student Ambassadors lead their group on a campus tour.

9th Annual Encuentros Education & Career Exploration Conference Saturday, October 27 at 8:00am, MiraCosta College Oceanside Campus
Partnering with local colleges, corporations, and community members, the 9th Annual Encuentros Education and Career Exploration Conference is a highly interactive conference attracting 300 Latino middle and high school aged boys. It highlights the importance of education and its connection to a successful career. You may download the application form online for your students to complete.
