FLAG FOOTBALL AND SOCCER EVENTS ARE A HIT (4/28/12)
For the first time in the history of MiraCosta's intramural sports program flag football was offered, but it won't be the last time. Fourteen partcipants came out to compete and had a great time for almost two hours.
As always, our soccer tournament continues to draw a large group of competitors. On April 27th eight teams and seventy three students and staff competed for the title of champion. After is was all said and done the least likely team came out victorious. The champions didn't win a game in the round robin play, but once the tournament format began, they hit their stride. They are pictured below.
SEVEN TEAMS VIE FOR IM SOCCER CHAMPSIONSHIP (2/24/12)
After it was all said and done the "soccer club" team came out on top. Click here for some pictures from the event. We will be hosting two more soccer tournaments later in the semester.
FIRST EVER INTRAMURAL BOWLING AND FLAG FOOTBALL (2/3/12)
This semester we have two brand new events. The bowling will take place in San Marcos at AMF Eagle Bowl. The date is March 9th, from 1-3pm, and the first forty students to register will get to compete. To register just email firstname.lastname@example.org. We are also offering another event that is new to MiraCosta Intramural Sports, flag football. After much demand we will host a flag football event on Friday April 20th.
To finish this semester's schedule of events in the Intramural program we offered a poker tournament and our popular coed soccer tournament. This was the first poker tournament that MCC Intramurals has offered and we are proud to say that in collaboration with the service learning department we collected twenty cans of canned food as an entry fee. The partcipants enjoyed themselves and winners were awarded t-shirts and gift certificates to In and Out Burgers. Click here to see pictures of the soccer and poker tournaments.
OPEN PLAY EVENTS GOING STRONG (11/3/2011)
As we have completed our 8th open play event (five for volleyball and three for basketball), the IM program has averaged 24 participants throughout those events. Our most recent event was open play basketball in which 25 students came out and played for two hours. All of our events are coed as was demonstrated with having women play in just about all eight of the open plays.
VOLLEYBALL AND SOCCER BRING STRONG TURNOUTS (9/19/2011)
Tuesday night open play volleyball and the soccer tournament that was held last friday both had strong turnouts. 23 students came out to play volleyball during the open play which lasted from 5:30-8:00pm. We will continue the open play volleyball for the next four weeks on the same day and time. The soccer tournament had an incredible 90 participants, students and staff. Programs on campus that were represented were student ambassadors, the soccer club, and the women's soccer coaching staff. Much thanks to everyone who came out to play!
