FORMER SPARTAN HONORED WITH ACADEMIC/ATHLETIC AWARD

Matt Cain was the MVP and team captain for MiraCosta men's basketbal team in 2011.  While he competed as a Spartan he embodied many, if not all of the traits that MiraCosta Athletics strives to instill in the student-athletes with whom we work. To anyone that knows him, it will come to them as no surprise that he is still being showered with recognition and awards.  In the 2011-12 season Cain was selected as one of 24 students-athletes in the CCAA as a recipient of the Dr. Hal Charnofsky Memorial Award

While competing at CSU Dominguez Hills Cain also earned his way onto the CCAA All-Academic team (2011-2012, 2012-2013), captained the team his senior year and maintained a 4.0 over the two years studying there.

Also of note is that on Sunday, February 17th, MiraCosta's buzzer beating shot was shown twice on KUSI news.

The Spartans are next in action on Wednesday at Southwestern College at 5pm.
