1. What do you hope to accomplish for the students of MiraCosta College?
I would like the students of MiraCosta to feel supported in every way that would ensure their sucess [sic] both academically and personally. I would like ASG to work on improving the awareness of the services offered by the college as well as advocate for services that the students would like.
2. What high school, college, or community volunteer positions have you held?
I have been the co-chair of the H.O.P.E. Volunteer Club for the past 3 semesters. I was an ASG senator in Fall of 2012 and I now serve as the V.P. of PR for MiraCosta’s ASG.
3. What qualities do you possess that will make you a good leader?
I work well with everyone and I am willing to listen to every point of an issue. I can make decisions based on reason and what is best for the whole, not emotion or for personal gain. I communicate effectively and am able to delegate tasks. I do not micromanage and I am willing to trust the people I work with to handle the tasks assigned. I am also willing to step up and get things done in a timely manner when that is required of me.
4. Do you have any prior student leadership experience? If so, please explain.
As the co-chair of H.O.P.E. I have been in charge of planning and setting up volunteer trips and projects. I have been a part of planning many college hours at both the Oceanside camous and Community Learning Center. I am a member and/or representative of several committees with varied responsibilities including the Classified Senate Council, Student Center Advisory Committee, the Matriculation Committee and I do citation reviews for the camous police. My experiences with these groups have allowed me to familiarize myself with the way the college works as well as create working relationships with many different people in staff, faculty, and administration.
