Instructor notes: This course is a hybrid course, which is taught partially face to face with me on Thursday mornings, and partially online through a non-MiraCosta Moodle server specific to the Music Department. However, we are using a program where you can log into your Blackboard account, and then access the course directly from there. Most lecture material will be provided online. Therefore, the "textbook" is an envelope that you purchase at the Oceanside bookstore, which merely contains a serial number that will unlock the online quizzes and assignments. It MUST be purchased new and unopened, or it will NOT work, and you cannot take the course without purchasing the serial number. There is also a requirement for you to attend two concerts during the semester. You may choose your own concerts. More details about concert report requirements will be given in the syllabus, which will be available at  Since this is primarily a music major course, it is strongly recommended that you are also enrolled in MUS 144 (Applied Music) for private lessons, and take either MUS 121 or 129 (Piano), as well as enroll in an ensemble. Visit the Music Department home page for more information about the program and auditions.
