If you need to update your email address, please do so within SURF (http://surf.miracosta.edu
). To remain enrolled in the class, it is required that you log in on or before the first day of class and post in the introduction discussion board within Blackboard.
There are several textbooks for the class. Details about the textbooks may be found at the MiraCosta College Bookstore website. The required textbook by Moomaw (2013) called _Teaching STEM in the early years: Activities for integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics_ (St. Paul: Redleaf Press) must be obtained as an ebook, hard copy text, or reviewed at the library as a reserve copy (a reserve copy at the Oceanside campus will be made available before the semester begins or early on in the semester). The remaining required publications are available through the State of California as free PDF's.
California Department of Education, Child Development Division (all free online)
• California Preschool Learning Foundations, Volumes 1 and 3
• California Preschool Curriculum Framework, Volumes 1 and 3
• OPTIONAL RESOURCE: California Infant/Toddler Learning and Development Foundations and Curriculum Framework
Note: You will need to be able to access the Preschool Learning Foundations and Preschool Curriculum Framework to succeed in this class. You can read these online, download them for free, purchase them at the bookstore, or use the copies on reserve in the library. If you want to purchase the texts, MiraCosta has a Textbook Loan Program
for students who need assistance with textbooks. Also check with Financial Aid
to see if you are eligible for any of their many services.
I am looking forward to being the instructor for CHLD130 online.
