Pre-Calculus I: College Algebra

This course covers advanced algebra topics including functions and their properties. Topics include linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions and their applications, graphs of functions, inverse functions, and systems of equations and inequalities. UC CREDIT LIMITATION: MATH 126, MATH 131, and MATH 135 combined, maximum credit, 5 units.

This 16-week hybrid class requires students to use a computer with reliable internet service and to purchase access to an online learning system ( in order to access learning materials and assignments. Students meet face-to-face on Fridays in room OC 3509 from 11:00AM-12:50PM for class and tests. All homework and most lectures are online. All the test are face-to-face on the fridays outlined in the class calendar.

To be officially enrolled in this class, you must first add it in SURF. Also, you must register in, with the course ID provided in the syllabus. You must submit the orientation assignment in, do the syllabus quiz sent by email by the first two days of class, and attend our first on site class Friday 8/22 in order not to be dropped from the class.  Since our course requires 2 hours per week of online activity (outside of homework), you will be required to watch math videos, participate in the discussion threads and read PPT lectures. .

All students should plan on dedicating approximately 12-16 hours per week to all aspect of this course. You will need to make a higher commitment to this hybrid class than an equivalent on site class. If you don’t have 12+ hours per week for this class, RECONSIDER your plans and priorities so you can succeed in this hybrid class.
