Instructor notes: This keyboarding and document production hybrid class - 8 weeks, 3 units course for medical office professionals combines medical terminology with advanced word processing skills.During the lecture class on Mondays from 7 pm to 9 pm Room 4803A, you will learn and practice how to use Word or Google docs to create and format medical documents, proofreading techniques, medical terminology exercises, transcription reports, and more.Exercises include practical keyboarding drills, creating medical documents, and inserting electronic entries 1). Create skill building and speed drills to improve medical keyboarding performance 2). Formulate proper techniques for keyboarding posture and finger placement 3). Customize a word processing application for editing and formatting medical documents 4). Create templates and macros for standard medical documents 5). Format standard medical documents as prescribed by the medical specialty 6). Use word processing shortcuts to proofread and edit documents 7). Create a document naming convention to manage files and folders 8). Choose appropriate standards of design and format to produce various medical documents.  Class begins on 10/13/2014 All enrolled students will receive an email (sent to the email address on file in SURF) from me one week prior to the class start date.
