Volunteer Needs: Volunteers are matched with a Little Brother or Little Sister to meet for one hour, one day a week at the child's school site on Camp Pendleton. During that hour the adult & child will participate in activities such as playing board games, doing arts and crafts or just running around outside playing sports, etc. Volunteers must be 18 years old, able to commit to one year, complete a background check, including DMV, criminal history, sex offender, etc. A $20 application fee is required to complete the background check, fee will be collected at interview. Hours are Monday (2:30-4:00), Tuesday (3:30-4:45), Wednesday (1:00-2:30)and Thursdays (3:30-4:30).

Volunteers act as a mentor and help with homework, reading and being a positive role model. This organization is dedicated to nurturing the educational and character development of Latino children and their families. Mentors are needed: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:15-5:45 PM and 6:00-7:30 PM. Most volunteers choose one day and time that works best for their schedule. Help is needed with children's activities including: games, songs, arts and crafts, stories and snack. Volunteers are also needed to help with the equestrian program: work directly with riding instructor and special needs rider, help with grooming and turn-outs of horses, maintain stables and tack. Office tasks are also available: routine office work, special assignments, paperwork, data entry, event planning and phone calls. All students working in the children's program must obtain TB test clearance within the last year. Minimum time commitment is 10 hours.
