  • Add a headshot to your Canvas profile
  • Write a short personal introduction
  • Get to know at least two other students
  • List the kinds of online businesses or services you would like have
  • Obtain Shopify free trial
  • Make clickable links

Assignment

Do the following:

  • Take the CSIT 146 Student Survey on Canvas to help me better understand your needs.
    • To Access: Canvas Quizzes and Tests>CSIT 146 Student Survey
  • Take a tour of Canvas
  • Add a profile picture (headshot) to your Canvas user's account. How to here.
    • If you prefer to not use your own image use a head shot of a historical figure, pet, or cartoon character
    • Tell us why you chose this picture
  • Obtain an free trial account with Shopify
    • After setting up the initial account fill out this form https://goo.gl/forms/BO9terrFTtvh2lRL2 to obtain the special MiraCosta extended free trial. Your store will be good until the end of the year (Dec 31).
      • Note: Sometimes student portals block access so you may need to cut and paste the address into a new tab
    • Paste the URL, ID and password, for your Shopify Store in the Shopify Store Account assignment textbox in the Week Week 1 Assignment in Canvas
  • Participate in the discussion described below

Discussion

Go to the Introductions discussion on Canvas, start a new thread and do the following:

  • Write a short introduction of yourself that includes:
    • A few sentences about your background
    • 1-2 Sentences about what you hope to learn from this class
    • Name are some things you would like to sell or services you would like to offer online
    • If you already have an online business, tell us about it
      • Note: Make any references to web sites clickable links. How to here.
    • Provide the URL to your Shopify store
    • Briefly share your initial impressions of Shopify

  • Say hi to at least two other students and provide thoughtful, substantive comments on their posts
    • Note: If a student already has three introductions please introduce yourself to another student
  • Respond to the introductions you receive from other students
