Madelynn Hoard
Madelynn (Maddy) Hoard was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Her love of language, literature, and writing began in childhood, and continued throughout her adulthood. At the University of Washington, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English. In 2006, she participated in Semester at Sea, a global study abroad program, where she circled the world via ship and explored ten different countries. This life-changing experience fueled her passion and desire to work with international, diverse peoples from around the world.
After receiving a deeper understanding of the world, she began volunteering in ESL classrooms throughout Seattle. In 2012, she earned her Master's in Education with her residency teaching certificate from Antioch University as well as her TESOL certificate in 2014 from Seattle Pacific University. Maddy began teaching in higher education in 2015 and has taught ESL, English, Adult Basic Education (ABE), I-BEST, and International English (ELI).
In 2021, Maddy followed the sunshine to beautiful San Diego. Teaching ESL brings such joy not only because it combines her love of writing, reading, traveling, and learning, but also is the most rewarding career. She adores working with the most remarkable, inspiring students. Maddy is dedicated to helping students achieve the personal, educational, and professional goals.
