After years of guiding our college with care and purpose, Dr. Cooke will be diving into her next adventure - retirement. We hope you’ll join us for a beach‑themed celebration filled with gratitude, laughter, and plenty of coastal cheer as we honor her incredible career.
All proceeds from this event will be contributed to the Sunny Futures Fund, which supports student needs and programs that help students succeed.

After 11 years as superintendent/president of MiraCosta College, Dr. Sunita “Sunny” Cooke has become more than her title suggests. She has become a steady presence — not only in North County but across the region and state — someone students, faculty, staff, and community partners trust to lead with care, clarity, and intention. As she prepares to retire at the end of this academic year, it is clear that her legacy is not defined by any single initiative, but by the way she approached the work itself, with an eye always focused on the future.
