Volunteer Needs: Project REACH is a free afterschool youth development program for youth 6th-12th grade. The program has three sites 1) Project REACH Libby Lake, 4700 North River Road, Oceanside, CA. 92057. 2) Balderrama REACH, 709 San Diego St., Oceanside, CA. 92058. 3) RBV REACH located on the Rancho Buena Vista High School campus. The program focuses on prevention of drug abuse and teen pregnancy. We are in need of college volunteers to assist with tutoring, prevention curriculum, after school activities, and serve as a mentors. Additional mentoring opportunities are available through the STEP UP Mentoring Program in Vista, Oceanside with high school, middle school and elementary school students.

Volunteer Needs: In the preschool setting volunteers will assist teachers in preparing classroom environments, implementing curriculum plans, and working with children constructively while they play. In the kindergarten setting, volunteers will work one-on-one with students who are in need of special attention during class time, with an emphasis in fine motor skills and early pre-math and reading. In physical education, volunteers can assist PE coaches in setting up and implementing curriculum for K-8th grade students. Hours vary by day and grade setting. All volunteers must present proof of current TB (not older than 4 years) and must obtain a background and fingerprinting check, processed through "Choice Point" and paid by St. Mary Star of Sea.
