Transferring files using WinSCP
To transfer files between your computer and the MAT server using the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) program, follow the steps outlined below:
Download WinSCP here. Click the Direct download link if the application doesn't automatically download. Follow the steps of the wizard to complete the installation.
How to Connect using WinSCP
In the Login - WinSCP properties dialog box, enter the following information:
- File Protocol: SFTP
- Port number: 22
- Host name: mat.miracosta.edu
- User name: Your SURF ID ex. W7251234
- Password: •••••••• (same as your SURF password)
Click the Advanced... button, then select Directories in the left window pane.
In the Remote Directory field, enter your respective remote directory:
- Remote directory: web:/
- If you don't know which remote directory contains your class folder, ask your instructor.
Click the OK button.
Click the Login button to access the server.
Once you connect, you will see a similar window with the listed folders respective to the Remote Directory you logon to.
Drag and Drop your files - WinSCP supports a drag and drop feature. You can select a file on the left pane, drag it, and drop it in your class folder located on the right pane. Also, you can select a file from anywhere in your hard drive and drag it to your class folder.
To end the session, click the Session menu, and select Disconnect. Then click the Close button.
