Commendations

The Police Department recognizes Dispatcher Christina Esquibel, Sgt. Sterling, Officer Santos, and Officer Saunders for their outstanding professionalism, compassion, and teamwork during a recent call involving a community member in medical distress.

Dispatcher Esquibel provided calm, clear communication while coordinating the response and remaining on the line to ensure help arrived promptly. Responding officers demonstrated exceptional care and attentiveness, providing support, reassurance, and assistance throughout the incident, as well as helping coordinate with the individual’s family member upon arrival.

The coordinated efforts of all involved went above and beyond expectations and ensured the individual received timely care and support during a difficult situation. The community member later shared heartfelt appreciation for the kindness, patience, and professionalism shown by the entire team, noting the experience left a lasting and meaningful impact.

As a gesture of gratitude, the community member also returned to the station with candy and a thank-you card.

This recognition reflects the department’s commitment to service, compassion, and teamwork in support of the community.

Dispatcher Christina Esquibel was recognized by Kim Marquardt for her handling of a critical incident involving a student in distress. Dispatcher Esquibel remained on the phone with the reporting party while simultaneously dispatching officers and providing timely updates.

Officers were able to make contact with the student and connect them with the appropriate resources and support. Dispatcher Esquibel’s calm communication, coordination, and professionalism contributed to a positive outcome during a sensitive situation.

Thank you College Police and dispatch for being there for back up on Monday and supporting a student in need on Wednesday. I appreciate all of you for showing up with gentle, respectful collaboration and letting a survivor know they are not to blame. More students/staff/faculty should know that you all are a resource for helping and protecting students.

A community member expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by Dispatcher Christina Esquibel in locating a lost cell phone. After attending a holiday performance, the individual realized the phone had been left at the theater and contacted the Police Department late in the evening. Dispatcher Esquibel promptly coordinated with officers, who responded to the location and successfully recovered the phone.

Although her shift was nearing its end, Dispatcher Esquibel remained available to ensure the phone could be returned that same night. Upon arrival, the community member and her father expressed sincere gratitude, noting the importance of the device due to essential medical applications connected to hearing devices. The father was visiting from out of town and was scheduled to travel the following day.

Several weeks later, the community member returned to the station with cookies as a gesture of appreciation for the exceptional service provided.
