Black Student Success Week
Black Student Success Week is scheduled for April 22-26, 2024, this year's theme is "Building a Better Future Together: The Urgency is Now." Our aim is to explore innovative approaches to ensure the success of Black and African American students in our community colleges.
Health Services and CARE will be tabling and providing self-care activities/ materials, including some wonderful journals with content put together by counselors Nikki Gee and Tammah Watts, Nurse Practitioner Olivia Dalton and peer educators. (Tuesday, April 23rd and Wednesday, April 24th, 12 –1pm; Clock Tower/Fountain area)

- Empowering Financial Futures: Closing Homeownership Gaps with Eric Hellon: 1pm - 2:30pm in OCT313 (Oceanside Campus) Join Eric Hellon, a seasoned professional, in a workshop dedicated to closing the homeownership and wealth gaps in America. Discover how to influence culture and restore hope in generational homeownership. Since 2006, Eric has empowered young aspiring homeowners to understand the wealth-building benefits of homeownership and continues to advocate for the American Dream. Be part of this transformative workshop and learn how to make a difference in your community.

- Black Alliance Block Party and Resource Fair: 1:30pm - 5pm at the Oceanside Campus
Join us for the annual Block Party and Resource Fair in support of Black Student Success Week! Hosted by the Black Alliance and partners, including ACPs, Career Center, Counseling, Foundation, SAS, Student Equity, and Service Learning, this event offers representatives from Oceanside Public Library, Goodwill, and more, along with prizes, music, dancing, live edutainment, food, carnival games, and free goods and services. Help us promote this celebration of Black student success!
