Paid Student Leadership Opportunity | Fall 2026
MiraCosta College is seeking students to serve as Civic Engagement Liaisons and help strengthen nonpartisan civic and voter engagement across our campuses.
What You’ll Receive
- $1,000 stipend
- Leadership and community engagement experience
- Training in nonpartisan civic engagement
- Experience with public speaking, outreach, and peer-to-peer communication
- An opportunity to make a meaningful impact at MiraCosta College
Time Commitment
- Approximately 10 hours per week
- 5-week commitment
- 50 hours total
- Activities may take place during the day and/or evening, depending on classroom and campus event schedules
What You Might Do
- Visit classrooms to give brief, nonpartisan voter engagement presentations
- Connect with students in both in-person and Zoom classes
- Help students register to vote or update their registration
- Provide information about voting deadlines, mail ballots, and how to make a voting plan
- Host voter engagement tables during Community Hour, Majorfest, Job and Career Fairs, and other campus events
- Answer basic student questions using approved nonpartisan resources
- Help review voter registration forms for common errors
- Conduct peer-to-peer outreach and follow-up
- Help track participation and voter registration efforts
Those activities closely reflect the funded plan, which emphasizes classroom visits, campus events, registration assistance, voting-plan support, and peer-to-peer outreach.

No political experience is necessary. Training will be provided.
The planned training includes conducting nonpartisan conversations, helping students
register accurately, helping students create voting plans, and making classroom presentations.
