Purpose
The Long-Term Planning Subcommittee (LTPS) is a standing sub-committee of the Budget and Planning Committee that supports the development of the college’s long-term planning goals and strategies. The purpose of the LTPS is to promote effective communication, collaboration, and understanding between constituent groups members, community members, regarding college goals, strategies, and planning document outcomes. The LTPT will promote equity and continuous improvement in the MiraCosta College planning strategies.
Charge
The LTPT provides updates and makes recommendations to the Budget and Planning Committee, superintendent/president, and executive management team.
The Long-Range Planning Committee shall:
- Provide recommendations for long-range planning, the college mission, vision, values, commitment statement and goals, approaches, and timelines for updating the College’s existing planning documents.
- Provide updates on College Plan timelines, college plans strategy integration, and other LTPS activities (comment: e.g. “assisting in the review and communication of strategies with measurable outcomes developed within each of the College’s existing plans,” but I don’t think we necessarily need to include this language in the Charge).
- Review of new and existing college planning document strategies and goal alignment with established college goals.
- Develop timelines for updating the College’s existing planning documents to reflect the new six-year goals and strategies that will be deployed to accomplish those goals.

The committee meets the 2nd Friday of every month from 9am-10am during the academic year, September - May.
