Don Love is the counselor/coordinator for the Umoja Program and a Regional Coordinator for the Statewide Umoja Community. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University and a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Counseling and Guidance from Point Loma Nazarene University.
Student Services Coordinator for Academic Success and Equity (ASE) Programs
Cristine collaboratively implements equity programs that promote academic success and retention through tailoring support to address the needs of underrepresented students. Cristine earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from CSU San Marcos and a Masters in Counseling from San Francisco State University.
Shawn currently teaches Statistics in the Umoja Program and the MiraCosta Dual Enrollment Program working with underrepresented youth. Before joining MiraCosta College, he taught mathematics and statistics in refugee camps in Turkey, in the bomb shelters of Israel, and the youth programs in Missouri. Shawn has bachelor degrees in pure mathematics and applied mathematics and two master degrees in mathematics and science education.
Umoja Student Success Liaison
Carolyn Goodspeed is the Student Success Liaison for the Umoja program tasked with on the ground follow-up support for both cohort and non-cohort students. Carolyn graduated from MiraCosta College in 2018.
