Students that started the program in the catalog year of 2015-2016 have catalog rights to the certificate in that catalog. Students can choose if they want to use the “old” 2015-2016 certificate with the required classes as long as they have not missed more than two consecutive semesters at MiraCosta (e.g., fall and spring or spring and fall) OR they can choose to switch to the “new” 2016-
2017 certificate that began in the fall of 2016. There is one change as indicated:

To meet Yoga Alliance requirements, students must take the 1-unit class. Students will need to repeat the course taken as a .5 unit class as a 1-unit class to meet the certificate requirements. Please enroll with Admissions and Records to retake the course. The student can state extenuating circumstances beyond their control and use the Committee on Exceptions general petition to request approval to take a course an additional time.
Students who have completed the “old” (200-hr. Certification of Achievement) WILL NOT be awarded the “new” (300-hr. Certification of Achievement) by MiraCosta College. The State Chancellor’s Office will not let us give out the same COA to the same student. Students who have completed and been awarded the “old” 200-hr. yoga COA will need to email their transcripts (unofficial are fine) to Stacy McCarthy at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will confirm they have completed the required courses for the 300-Hour and email them a version of the certificate. Students will then submit this as proof of completion of our 300-Hour program to Yoga Alliance.
