Devon Boone was born in Georgia but proudly raised in Southeast San Diego. Devon earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from California State University, Fresno and his Master of Social Work from San Diego State University while also being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Before MiraCosta he previously worked as a Mental Health Clinician and Program Manager, helping minors and Transitional Aged Youth facing homelessness and sexual exploitation. He brings trauma-informed, equity-minded expertise to higher education, enhancing case management practices that help students navigate complex systems and build lasting stability. At MiraCosta College his work centers on creating inclusive support structures for students experiencing basic needs insecurity while also serving on Behavioral Intervention Team, Bias Education Support Team, and other advisories. Devon enjoys running, boxing, movies, and other thrill-seeking activities that help him balance life as a working parent and husband.

Student Services Coordinator, Oceanside Campus
Yuri is a proud bilingual, first-generation alumna of MiraCosta College, born in Oceanside, CA. She earned her A.A in Liberal Arts (Social and Behavioral Sciences) from MiraCosta College, a B.A in Human Development from California State University of San Marcos and a M.A in Education from San Diego State University. Yuri has over 15 years of experience working in education specializing in student well-being and case management, basic needs, program eligibility and customer service. Prior to joining MiraCosta, Yuri worked in several roles as a Family Service Advocate and Eligibility Technician, helping families facing homelessness and building an eligibility priority list for foster children and children receiving special education services. Her professional experience includes supporting underserved communities and first-generation college students through programs such as Head Start and AVID, where she has fostered equitable access to resources and opportunities for success. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, self-care, and spending time with her family.
Jess Garcia, MSW

Interim Student Services Specialist, Oceanside Campus
Jess Garcia was born in National City, California, and raised in Escondido and Temecula, California. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Development from California State University San Marcos and a Master of Social Work from San Diego State University. Before joining MiraCosta College, Jess worked as an Associate Clinical Social Worker and as a PACE Social Worker, supporting individuals experiencing life stressors and basic needs concerns. In these roles, she provided individual counseling and case management services using a trauma-informed, person-centered approach to connect individuals with community resources, coordinate care, and promote stability and overall well-being. Jess is passionate about advocating for underserved and vulnerable communities and empowering individuals to achieve their goals through compassionate, person-centered support. Outside of work, Jess enjoys hiking, running, exploring national parks, and going on iced coffee runs.

Administrative Support Assistant II
Ulises is an Oceanside native and MiraCosta Alumni. He earned his A.A in Liberal Arts (Social and Behavioral Sciences) and pending A.A. Psychology from MiraCosta College and a B.A in Literature and Writing Studies with a minor in Education from California State University of San Marcos.He found his passion working in higher education with the MiraCosta Service Learning and Volunteer program and the CARE program advocating for students with basic needs insecurities and cultivating a safe space on campus through a trauma informed approach. Ulises enjoys playing soccer, swimming, eating, and seeking adventures that help him balance life as a cat dad.
